Happy Easter!

Hi y’all! Hope you’re heaving a lovely Easter! I certainly have! Since Friday was Good Friday, I had the day off and went to the Bag museum (Tassenmuseum Hendrikje) in Amsterdam with my mum. It really is the cutest little museum, with lots of old, weird and amazing bags. Prada even donated a piece of its S/S 12 collection: an awesome green/yellow pair of flame shoes with matching bag. How cool is that?! And of course my mum bought a bag in the gift shop. I’m so jealous! It’s a real timeless white and tan bag from BOO! Of Belgium. But she promised I could borrow it sometimes  ;). After a short lunch at the museum, we walked back to the station via the Albert Cuyp market. We stumbled upon this cute vintage store Carnaby Street, where I bought a tan blazer (on sale!). It really was a nice mother-daughter day, and yes I know that sounds soppy! Since we don’t really celebrate Easter (I’m not religious as you may have noticed), I’m hoping to persuade my parents to go the flea market in Den Bosch tomorrow. I really love nosing trough other peoples junks, you never know what little treasures you may find. My dad keeps saying we won’t go, but I know he loves the flea market just as much as I do. He’s a real sucker for copper candles sticks (we have about 12 pairs), so I know he won’t be able to resist. And of course my mum has no real say in the question, we’ll just drag her along :P. But besides the whole shopping/browsing part I still love it, since it’s one of the few things we still do together as a family… besides watching the entire DVD collection of Midsomer Murders. Somehow I think we all have some sort of Easter tradition, whether it’s going to church or going to the flea market. Anyway, I hope you get to spend Easter with your friends and family, and have a lovely holiday!

p.s. They weather channel reported that our Easter is going to be colder than our Christmas! We’re having snow on Easter (which was absent with Christmas)!

Watch!

Ah, finally its weekend again! It’s been a busy week, with the test on Tuesday (which was tough), the peer review on Thursday (which was hard) and the presentation on Friday (which we rocked!). And last but not least, the arrival of my watch on Friday night! I'm sooo happy! And luckily enough the pieces of the band could be removed to make a perfect fit! My wrists are really narrow, so I always struggle to find watches or bracelets that fit me properly. I usually buy them at flea markets or antique stores, because back in the days they had smaller wrists... We've gotten fat, haven't we? :P My parents were a little annoyed at first that I bought the watch (I have like a dozen), but now they really like it as well. My dad even suggested that if I couldn’t resize the watch to make it fit, he wouldn’t mind wearing it instead. As if! But somehow God or Karma (whatever you believe in) didn’t let me get away with it so easily. Because later that day I made a huge cut in my finger while moving the TV.  It was bleeding like pig! And also, during the day I noticed I was a little itchy, which turned into a full blown rash during the evening. I’ve never been so itchy before, I was literally covered from neck to legs in red blotchy dots. Thank God for mum, who whipped out the talcum-powder (from 1996!!!) which really did wonders. I threw away the new shower gel I bought last week immediately! Who says Aloe Vera soothes the skin?! I wanted to peel it off!!! I really hope that bad luck is over now, or else I don’t think I’m going to survive this Sunday…

Here's a picture of the watch! Isn't it pretty?! :D

Learning...

*Yawn* I’m learning for my test tomorrow.. and I really can’t focus. I’m still too hyper from winning the ebay auction last night! I finally won the watch! I've been after this sucker for at least two months now, and every time someone outbid me in the last second. But now I’ve got it! Jeej! :D The ebay info says it will be delivered in 4 to 8 business days (somewhere between March 21 and March 25). And that’s the part I’m also dreading a bit: I just now that I won’t be home when its delivered, which means my mum will answer the door and take the package, and then I will have to tell here what’s in it, and she’ll probably kill me. She can be a bit of a control freak sometimes, and since I already have a dozen watches and should be saving for my holiday, she won’t let it go so easily. Sometimes I really hate living with my parents. Gives you now freedom to do bad things :P Until then I can fill my time with granzymes, cardic remodeling, paramecial sex and apoptosis. SUCH fun.

With love,

Willemijn

p.s. Beautiful Creatures was fun, but such a chick movie. For the guys: abandon theater, run while you still can! But I had a lovely time with my friend, we discussed all the sleaze and dirt that has been going on lately. I really miss having her around, but I can see she’s happy with her career move (she switched from Biomedical Science to Medicine). Luckily she lives nearby, and since most of her friends are my friends we see each other quite often. I hear there’s a party coming on, which will be an excellent time to catch up!

p.p.s. Did I mention there's this guy coming, that I kinda, sorta like?

Shine sun, shine!

Finally, I thought this week would never end! The weather did a complete 180, from soft and sunny to cold, wet and snowy. It kinda sucks the life out of me, especially since we were treated with the warm and radiant feeling of spring a week ago. I went outside without a jacket, and wore my canvas converse all stars to really get in the spring mood. I even saw someone in slippers! We Dutchies go crazy with the first rays of spring :P. But no, March threw us a curveball, and now it’s snowing again. And my winter blues is on again. If I could, I would hibernate from January till April. Too bad the world keeps spinning around. Luckily, the course I’m taking is quite mellow, and I’m really having a fun with a couple of friends I haven’t seen in a while who are also taking the course. AND I’m going horseback riding tonight (every Friday night btw). AND I’m going to the movies tomorrow night with a friend whom I haven’t seen in a while. Has anyone seen Beautiful Creatures yet? From what I hear it’s supposed to be the “new Twilight” hype. I really don’t care, I just want to chat with my friend. Which we usually do during the movie (yes, we are those annoying type of girls who give comments during the movie, laugh too loud and you really want to shoot at the end of the film). So all in all I can’t really complain… I just wish the damn sun would shine!

Passed!

Woohoo! Victory dance! I passed Laboratory Animal Science! :D I’m sooooo happy!!!! I was really getting worried, because usually we get the results pretty fast, and not passing this would mean I had one retry for the exam, or else waste 880euro of university money… (O.o) But I didn’t! :D Jeeej! Another victory dance! To celebrate I’m not going to work on the presentation for my current course (stroke is such a fun subject *sarcasm*) and plant my ass in front of the TV and watch the subtitled version of Parades End, starring the lovely Benedict Cumberbatch. I tried watching the series on the BBC (with my mum, she loves him too) but we were completely lost! My English isn’t that bad, but they were muttering under their breath and with thick posh accents, so we didn’t have a clue what the series was about… Other than WWI of course. So tonight we hope to understand what the hell was going on, other than the red-headed woman being a total bitch. We red-heads really do have a nasty side! ;P

Test day, Jean Paul Gaultier and new course

Uhoh, it’s been a while since my last post (again)! But life has been busy, and there was no way I could have squeezed it in!  Ok, maybe that’s a lie, but still, there was little time with the test day, fashion exhibition, my dad coming home on sunday from Santiago de QuerĂ©taro (somewhere in Mexico) and the starting of a new course (today!). The test day was scheduled for Thursday, and went completely chaotic, as usual. No matter how much I plan things ahead, something always seems to spoil my preparations. But at least now I saw it coming (sort of) and was able to avoid any major collateral damage. My feet were killing me though, and I was happy to ride on Maestro (such a sweet little mare!) on Friday night, instead of one of the slow horses, or else I don’t think I could have made it to the end of the hour.
On Saturday I had a long overdue reunion with the girls, as we went to the fashion exhibition of Jean Paul Gaultier in the Kunsthal in Rotterdam (check out the website!). Which was awesome! God, I love his work! His dresses and corsets are soooo amazingly pretty (and sometimes a bit daring, even for the red light district!). I’m in love with anything nautical, so his work is right up my alley. The whole trip was a bit challenging though, because one of my friends decided to rent a wheelchair, which we could barely maneuver through the halls. It was absolutely hilarious! Although we had great fun, I do hope her knees will be better next time, because I don’t think the other visitors could appreciate our clumsiness.

Watch an interview with the Master here:

After the boost of fashion and glamour, we were totally inspired to do some heavy shopping at Primark. But I restrained myself! I only spend 27euros, which is pretty good considering I bought 6 items. Pfff, I find it so hard to save my money for the summer holiday! I did fail two weeks ago (or was it three?) by buying a pair of awesome black biker boots (only 30euro!) but it has got to stop! Did I mention I’ve seen the most awesome watch on ebay? Ow dear, not again… Luckily, I’ve started a new course today, so the coming two weeks will be totally packed with lectures and preparing for the presentation AND test. So no time to shop there. But why did they have to do both? Wasn’t one enough?! And did I mention the exam is scheduled for next Tuesday? That’s in 8 days! Fortunately, I’ve teamed up with a couple of good friends for the presentation part, so that should be a breeze... I hope... ;)

p.s. The Laboratory Animal Science exam was hard! As I suspected... I'm really nervous about the results, fingers crossed!
